Yoga Class Descriptions

Our instructors are highly trained yoga professionals who have experienced healing through yoga in their own lives and who practice yoga as a way of life.  We specialize in traditional yoga styles focused on alignment, safety, healing, and self-acceptance.

Gentle Care Hatha

Gentle Care is a traditional Hatha Yoga class with a softer touch. “Hatha” is a general term used to describe the physical practices of yoga involving postures and breath. In our Hatha classes, we practice and refine traditional yoga poses, taking the time to approach each pose mindfully and use props and modifications to fit the poses to our bodies' individual and current state. By attuning our focus and seeking the right level of challenge, we build strength, become flexible, and discover the calm of our inner selves. In our Gentle Care classes, we take it extra easy, respecting our limitations while soothing pain and stiffness.

Grow Strong Hatha

Trying out Yoga for the first time? Start with Grow Strong.

Grow Strong is a traditional Hatha Yoga class. “Hatha” can be used as a general term to describe yoga's physical practices involving postures and breath. In our Hatha classes, we practice and refine traditional yoga poses, taking the time to approach each pose mindfully and to use props and modifications to fit the poses to the individual and changing the state of our bodies. By attuning our focus and seeking the right level of challenge, we build strength, become flexible, and discover the calmness of our inner selves. This class is accessible for beginners and challenging for all levels of experience.

Strong Flow Vinyasa

Strong Flow is a Vinyasa Yoga Class. “Vinyasa Yoga” is also known as Flow or Power Yoga and is vigorous and movement-based. With an emphasis on synchronizing movement and breath, this class will keep you flowing through creative sequences of traditional yoga postures. Intermediate and advanced postures are offered at a pace that matches the level of the practitioners in the class. With fewer props and a faster pace, this class suits yoga practitioners with some experience or beginners willing to respect where they are and take breaks.

Advancing Hatha

This class is designed for the experienced Grow Strong Hatha or Strong Flow Vinyasa student ready to build toward poses requiring greater strength and range of motion. With props and alignment teachings, we will learn how to progress mindfully into various balance postures, inversions, and backbends by cultivating the strength and openness required to work into these asanas safely. With an emphasis on respecting our body's internal cues, we will honor our unique edges and trust our inner spirit to guide us.

Deep Stretch Yin

Deep Stretch is a Yin Yoga class. Yin Yoga is a meditative practice involving deep stretch postures held for several minutes, mainly on the floor. The practice stresses and stimulates the deep connective tissues of the hips, thighs, pelvis, and lower spine to retain mobility in aging joints. Not to be confused with the total relaxation of our Relax and Unwind classes, Yin Yoga taps into an intensity of sensation that can deepen your mindfulness while increasing joint mobility.

Relax and Unwind Restorative

Relax and Unwind is a Restorative Yoga class. Restorative Yoga is a passive stretching experience that will help you unwind and rejuvenate by supporting yourself with blankets, bolsters, and props into deeply comfortable and gently stretching postures. This class will soothe your nerves and stiff joints and is the perfect antidote to the adverse effects of any physical and mental exertion that is a part of your day. Restorative Yoga suits all practitioners regardless of physical fitness or yoga experience.
