I am so delighted that you have discovered our special little community of Escape to Yoga! We were established in 2012 and are a locally owned small business in the heart of Old Town Sherwood, Oregon.
I’m Julie, the owner of Escape to Yoga. I’m also a mom of three adult children, have two dogs, am a wife, and a yoga teacher. I’ve taught yoga since 2015 in various studios and settings, from gyms to corporate settings and private sessions. In my six years of teaching before taking ownership of Escape to Yoga, I witnessed many students struggle in classes that didn’t suit them, leading them to abandon yoga altogether. With the desire to learn how to reach these students better, I made it my mission to help people feel successful in yoga regardless of injuries or physical limitations. My studies in alignment-based yoga taught me that people of any age could build strength and create new pathways in their minds and bodies to live more vibrant lives. Yet, they often needed a more gradual approach than what was being offered in many yoga studios and gym settings.
In 2021, amidst widespread yoga studio closures during the pandemic, I had the opportunity to become the new owner of Escape to Yoga. Despite the uncertainties of the time, I knew that people would need to find healing when they felt safe to venture out again, and I was excited to use my knowledge of alignment-based yoga to help them. I purchased Escape to Yoga and embarked on a mission to rebuild Escape to Yoga into a sanctuary of healing and growth so people of any age could reclaim their vitality and live an active life.

Yoga is Healing We believe yoga can heal you from the inside out. Habitual thought and movement patterns can keep you stuck and create obstacles to healing. We know that yoga is an effective tool to help remove these obstacles and establish new pathways for healing.
Growth at Any Age We believe that growth can be achieved at any age and that the key to graceful aging lies in developing strength in the body and the mind. With a nurturing approach, we guide individuals in discovering pose modifications that enhance strength, reduce injury risks, and foster a journey of strength, balance, and openness over time.
Connection Creates Well-Being Taking time to slow down and practice yoga provides a much-needed break from the frenzy of our daily tech-filled world. We provide a haven where students can relax, reflect, and connect with what is happening deep within. Practicing in community fosters a sense of connection that can lead you out of painful isolation and promote joy.
Peace Our studio is a sanctuary for meditation and healing. Adorned with beautiful artwork and rigorous daily cleaning practices, our space instantly creates a sense of calm upon entering. We play peaceful music in our classes and keep our studio at a comfortable 72-74 degrees.
