Frequently Asked Questions

Have any questions related to the yoga classes at Escape to Yoga? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call  or fill out our online form today for more information!

  • I Have Never Practiced Yoga Before. Which Class Should I Start With?

A great place to start is our “Grow Strong” classes.  These classes are traditional Hatha yoga classes and, while challenging and strength building, they move slowly and are accessible to beginners. If you have pain, injuries, or other limitations, try a Gentle Care class, which will include all the basic elements of a traditional yoga class with a much softer touch.

    Let us help you decide!

  • Can I Drop-In, or Do I Need to Make a Reservation?

Reservations are required to attend in-person and online classes.

ONLINE CLASSES:  Please reserve at least 15 minutes prior to class time to make sure you receive your virtual class link.  If you miss your online class or cancel late, don’t worry, there is no penalty for no-shows for online classes.

IN-PERSON CLASSES:  Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to class start time.  LATE ARRIVALS WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO CLASS.  If you cannot attend class, please cancel your reservation at least 4 hours prior to class start time to avoid a late cancellation fee.

    Class Descriptions

  • I Am Not Flexible, Strong, Fit, Thin, Etc. Which Class Is Right for Me?

Our approach is inclusive and individualized to support students of all ages, sizes, genders, and physical conditions. We emphasize self-acceptance and teach our students how to modify the practice so they can work around limitations and meet their own needs. Everyone is encouraged to start where they are and work at their own pace. We all want to feel better inside and out, and Escape offers a safe place for you to explore and discover the beauty of your mind and body.

  • What Should I Wear?

Wear clothing that is comfortable and allows a full range of motion without binding.  For yoga, tops should be snug enough to prevent them from falling over your head during inverted poses.  We keep the studio at about 72-74 degrees, so you may want to bring some additional layers.

  • What Equipment Should I Bring?

Escape to Yoga supplies all the necessary props for class. We have a few extra mats that can be borrowed, but it is strongly encouraged to bring your own mat. Since COVID, many students prefer to bring their own props such as blocks, straps and a blanket. Review your class reservation email for equipment needed for specific classes.

  • Where Can I Park?

Don't circle the block!  Head straight to a free and easy parking lot nearby and enjoy a quick stroll before class.

  • What if I Am Late?

Late arrivals will not be admitted to In-Person classes.  Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to class start time.  Please join our online classes whenever you can; just remember to leave your mic off if you join late.

  • Are There Any Yoga Studio Etiquette Guidelines I Should Be Aware of?

Relax! Here are a few quick tips for the Escape newbie!

    • Ask questions! Let your teacher know if you need help
    • Take your shoes off before entering the practice room.
    • Avoid wearing strong fragrances, we'll be doing lots of deep breathing!
    • Keep the practice room quiet and peaceful. Socializing is strongly encouraged in the store and lounge.
    • Leave your cellular devices OFF.  We can hear it vibrating when it is in silent mode.
    • Make space for other students.
    • Put your props away neatly at the end of class.
    • Plan to stay for the whole class; if you can't, let your teacher know before class begins and leave quietly before savasana.
    • If you plan to borrow any studio props, please bring a washcloth to clean them before and after use.  The disinfectant spray is provided.

  • Can I Bring My Kids?

Yes! At Escape, we believe that yoga is a lifelong practice and that people can benefit from yoga at all stages of life. Class participants are welcome to bring their kids along if they believe their children have reached a level of maturity that would allow them to practice along with the grown-ups without being a distraction. We have found that children as young as 12 years old enjoy adult yoga classes with their parents. Children 16 and older are considered old enough to attend regular classes unaccompanied by an adult as long as their parents approve of their participation. Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times and are not permitted to wait in the store/lounge during class.

  • I Am Pregnant. Do You Offer Prenatal Yoga?

We don't offer prenatal yoga specifically, but our Gentle Hatha classes are appropriate for people at any stage of life and our expert instructors can help you find the modifications you need to practice safely.
